Triple H was in his locker room, voting for the special referee at Cyber Sunday. Jeff Hardy walked in and said it was unfair HHH had to defend his title five days after their match, against Big Show. Hardy said he doubted Triple H would win, but said he would challenge the winner.
Triple H came out for his main event title match.
6- TRIPLE H vs. THE BIG SHOW- WWE TITLE MATCH
Show used his mass and strength to keep HHH down, including a headbutt while Trips was on the apron. HHH was able to come back in, only to be greeted with a sidewalk slam. Time for the last break.
Show had Trips in a neck vice. HHH was feeling the power, but Show headbutted him to put him back down. Show missed a big splash in the corner, allowing HHH to recover some more. He got the boots up on another charge, then jumped on Show’s back and applied a sleeper. Triple H got a lot of offense in, but couldn’t take Show off his feet. Show blocked a Pedigree, picked Trips up and just landed on him. Show missed a right hand, but Trips walked into a chokeslam. Show couldn’t capitalize. As he was about to pick Trips up, the lights went out and the bell tolled. When they came back on, Taker was staring at Show in the ring. He started the beat-down, but Show got out of the ring and headed up the ramp. The lights went out again and when they came on, Taker was behind him and beat him up some more, just punching him and punching him as they fought to the back.
WINNER: Show by DQ, at 9:49. Decent enough; Show has been away from the title picture long enough for it to seem fresh.
Vladmiri Kozlov then rand out and did some damage to Triple H. After a headbutt put Trips down, Jeff Hardy ran out. Kozlov put him down until HHH and Hardy decided to work together and then threw Kozlov out of the ring. The faces stared the heel down, then out of nowhere, Hardy hit the Twist of Fate on HHH. The two that have a match next week, Hardy and Kozlov, stared each other down as the show ended.

HHH vs. Jeff Hardy. The text voting had 72% saying they wanted to see Jeff win the title.
This was a fantastic match. This was the best performance HHH has had in a long time. This was him doing the best of Ric Flair/Harley Race style world title defense. Lots of great near falls and close calls. Hardy missed the swanton. HHH went for the pedigree, but Hardy countered with a twist of fate and swanton. As he went for the pin, HHH, did basically a side backslide on Hardy for the pin. Match got over great live as well. Fans didn’t boo either man although HHH played “subtle heel champion” like the best of them.
Arn Anderson congratulated HHH on the match and then Vladimir Kozlov went nose-to-nose to HHH so that’s the new direction.

No Mercy will be the second time in less than a month that Jeff Hardy will challenge WWE Champion Triple H for his title. At Unforgiven, Hardy was part of the first-ever WWE Championship Scramble Match, where four Superstars attempted to take down The King of Kings. But with mere seconds to go in the 20-minute encounter, The Game prevailed.
Hardy earned a second chance at Triple H’s gold when he defeated United States Champion Shelton Benjamin, Montel Vontavious Porter and The Brian Kendrick in a Fatal Four Way Match on the first SmackDown following Unforgiven.
The Game has been riding a wave of success as WWE Champion. But for Hardy, he’s undergone a rough year. From losing his home and dog in a fire, to undergoing a suspension, then suffering back-to-back pay-per-view losses – to MVP at SummerSlam (PHOTOS) and The Game at Unforgiven – the high-flyer has been hanging out at ground level.
Unlike their encounter at Unforgiven, Hardy will have to face The Cerebral Assassin one-on-one. The odds seem to overwhelmingly favor 12-time World Champion Triple H. But, success is no stranger to Hardy, who is a four-time Intercontinental and seven-time Tag Team Champion. The time is right for Hardy to pull off a major win. But first, he’ll need to get by one of WWE’s most successful Superstars.
Can Hardy pull off a major upset? Or, will The King of Kings continue to reign supreme?
